KIMS College of Nursing, Thiruvananthapuram
The General Nursing and Midwifery course at KIMS Nursing College, Trivandrum, is the college's sole diploma course. The programme provides a comprehensive and practical training in patient care and community health. The course aims to train students in providing medical care to patients in all age groups, promote self-care among patients, provide effective nursing care and apply problem-solving in nursing practice.
At the college, the GNM course syllabus is prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council (INC). As part of the curriculum, students focus on bioscience, behavioural sciences, nursing foundations, and community health nursing in the first year. The second year focuses on Medical-Surgical Nursing, Child Health Nursing and Mental Health Nursing. Finally in the third year covers midwifery, gynaecological nursing, and community health nursing. Students will engage in practical sessions for each subject in the curriculum.
