B.Sc Nursing at Holy Cross College, Kottiyam, is a flagship programme of the institution that covers the theoretical fundamentals and practical training in nursing sciences. With a centralized curriculum from the KUHS, the course enables students to learn about basic applied medical sciences along with clinical exposure at its tie-in Holy Cross Hospital and internships. Launched in 2004, the course accepts up to 65 students who meet the eligibility requirement.
As part of its curriculum by the KUHS, students learn about applied anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and microbiology. It additionally covers applied sociology and psychology along with nursing foundations. Other subjects include applied nutrition & dietetics, pharmacology, pathology, adult health nursing with integrated pathophysiology. The course proceeds to focus on specialized subjects namely child health nursing and community health nursing. Additionally, it covers forensic nursing, nursing management, midwifery in obstetrics & gynaecology, and research. Mandatory modules and electives are also prescribed in the syllabus.
